Our Philosophy

At the heart of our mission is a simple, transformative idea: to empower gardeners and homeowners to restore harmony with nature through natural solutions.

Hi, I’m Josiah Kilburn: an entomologist with nearly a decade of experience studying insects around the world.

I’ve worked with organizations like the Entomological Society of America (ESA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Great Smoky Mountains National Park, CityAntsProject, and institutions like Colorado State University (CSU), the University of Michigan (UM), and Morehead State University (MSU). I specialize in ants, but my work spans nearly every insect group, and I’ve spent my career helping people understand how to live with nature, not against it.

At Entomanagement IPM, we offer a smarter, science-driven way to manage pests: one that’s effective, affordable, and environmentally sound.

With all of that being said, I am also an Eagle Scout and have lots of experiences taming the outdoors, leading others and teaching them about ants and insects. For my Eagle Scout project, I led 30 scouts through a canyon and taught them how to collect ants. Later, I went on to publish a 350 page book on the ants of Colorado, and then work as a bioinventory specialist in the smokies, where I learned about various applications of applied IPM. Throughout my other work at CSU, UM, and MSU, I have taken entomology classes, worked on pest projects, and have also become familiar with Colorado insect fauna and their relationships. So if you are having a pest problem and you want an environmental solution, I am a guy who can help.
